BKNIX Strengthens Thailand’s Internet Infrastructure by organizing the 9th BKNIX Peering Forum, bringing together industry leaders from across the region

Bangkok, Thailand – The Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNIC), in collaboration with BKNIX Co., Ltd., successfully hosted the BKNIX Peering Forum 2025 on May 22–23, 2025 at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel. The event reinforced Thailand’s leadership in internet infrastructure and welcomed over 350 participants, including internet service providers, technical experts, and stakeholders from both local and international communities.
The BKNIX Peering Forum has become a vital platform for ISPs, government agencies, and the internet infrastructure community to exchange knowledge, build partnerships, and strengthen internet connectivity throughout the region.

In his opening address, Associate Professor Surasak Sa In his opening address, Associate Professor Surasak Sanguanpong, THNIC Foundation board member, remarked:
“The BKNIX Peering Forum has now reached its ninth year. From the beginning, we have envisioned it as a space for connection and knowledge exchange. It started as a small gathering and has gradually grown, thanks to ongoing interest and active participation. We hope that this year’s forum will continue to serve as an open platform for sharing ideas, fostering technical collaboration, and enhancing the quality and efficiency of internet infrastructure both nationally and regionally.”
BKNIX remains committed to enhancing its services as Thailand’s neutral internet exchange point. Currently, it supports connections and data exchange from 64 Autonomous Systems (ASNs) and has recorded peak traffic reaching 260 Gbps. This includes connections from leading global Content Delivery Network (CDN) providers such as Facebook, TikTok, and, most recently this year, Google (AS15169), helping to improve the speed and stability of online content access for users in Thailand.
In addition to providing internet traffic exchange services, BKNIX offers a range of essential value-added services for its members, including a Route Server, DNS, Looking Glass, and its latest service—High-Precision NTP (Network Time Protocol), supported by Seiko. This service significantly enhances time synchronization accuracy within network.
To accommodate future traffic growth, BKNIX has expanded its infrastructure to support 400GE port connections and extends its appreciation to Nokia for supplying next-generation switching equipment that strengthens the stability of its infrastructure and supports long-term scalability.
Another major milestone is the establishment of the first internet exchange point in Chiang Mai province, made possible through switching equipment support from APNIC, marking a concrete step toward expanding the network into northern Thailand.
BKNIX has also demonstrated its strong commitment to enhancing internet resilience through the implementation of a multi-node architecture. This approach expands the network to include multiple connection points, allowing members to connect from various locations. It reduces the risk of a single point of failure and increases the flexibility and reliability of data transmission.
Members are able to connect to a second node at no additional cost, supporting the development of a more distributed and stable national network infrastructure. Currently, BKNIX operates seven nodes across the Bangkok Metropolitan Area.
The success of the BKNIX Peering Forum 2025 would not have been possible without the collaboration and generous support of our sponsors and partners, including ETIX Everywhere, Internet Society, Nokia, International Gateway, ReadyIDC, JPIX, Flexoptix, Symphony, NTT DATA, Equinix, Opengear, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, TCC Technology Group, APNIC, Google, AWS, BBIX, Telehouse, SG.GS, Seiko, ICANN, .TH and NSRC.
