THNIC Foundation Supports Hosting of IETF 122 in Bangkok, March 15–21, 2025

The Thai Network Information Center (THNIC) Foundation served as a local host for the 122nd Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting — a globally significant forum for setting Internet standards. The event aimed to provide Thai researchers, engineers, and developers the opportunity to participate in shaping global Internet technologies.

During IETF 122, a notable meeting took place between Sally Wentworth, CEO of the Internet Society (ISOC), and Professor Dr. Kanchana Kanchanasut, an Internet Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the Postal Service Award for her pioneering work in establishing the Internet in Thailand and Southeast Asia. The two exchanged views on sustainable Internet development and discussed collaboration in promoting global digital infrastructure.

In addition, THNIC organized a side event, “The Misinformation Challenge: From Fact-Checks to Fixes”, inviting IETF participants, media professionals, and Thai stakeholders to share insights and experiences on tackling misinformation and promoting information integrity in Thai society.

The event received strong infrastructure support from BKNIX, in collaboration with TRUE and Symphony, to ensure high-performance network connectivity throughout the conference. This reflects Thailand’s growing role as a regional Internet hub.
